Liver-detoxifying Goji Milk with Goji Mochi | 疏肝枸杞奶配枸杞麻薯
Liver-detoxifying Goji Milk with Goji Mochi
Yield: 2
This recipe is great all year long, but especially in the Spring, after emerging from the Winter months. The milk is slightly sweet, and the mochi is chewy and naturally gluten-free! Goji berry is sweet in flavor to facilitate the Liver in regulating free-flow of Qi throughout the body and chrysanthemum is mildly cooling in energetic temperature. The flower can gently clear some of the heat built up over the slower, more stagnant winter months.
Ingredients
Mochi
- 1/2 cup sweet rice flour
- 1 tbsp goji berry powder *
- Small dish of warm water
- Iced water
- *You can blend soaked goji with water too if you don’t have goji powder.
Goji Milk
- 2 tbsp soaked Goji Berry
- 1 tea bag filled with 2g dandelion, 2g semen cassiae, 2g kudzu root, 1 cape jasmine fruit, 2g mulberry leaf 桑叶, 2g chrysanthemum 菊花*
- 2 cups of non-dairy milk
- ½ cup of non-dairy half and half
- Sweetener of choice
- *You can also just use 6g of chrysanthemum rather than all these herbs.
Special Equipment
- Clean tea bag or herbal sachet
- Blender
- 2 skewers
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the sweet rice flour and goji berry powder. Slowly add in a bit of the warm water or nut milk to form a dough.
- Shape the dough into balls, drop them in boiling water until they are cooked through. Once done, immediately shock with iced water.
- In a pot, boil bagged herbs, soaked goji berry, and milk. Bring to a boil and steep for 10 minutes. Take out the tea bag.
- In a blender, blend boiled milk (with goji berry in it), half and half, and sweetener of choice until well combined and a layer of foam forms.
- String the mochi balls onto the bamboo sticks and serve with the herbal milk.
